What engine do I have?
I just traded my Dakota yesterday for a 1998 Ram. I ran the vin number, and it said my truck was built with a 5.9/360. What brings me to question this, is the sticker under the hood. The sticker under the hood says it is a 5.2. How I figure out what motor I acutally have?

i have a sticker on mine that says that too but i do have 5.9, there should be a little list on the top of the hood when you open it with your gear ratio and axle types and stuff compare that to the list in the manual if you dont have a manual look at the gear ratio if its 3.55 its a 5.9 i dont think the 5.2 comes in 3.55

Not sure of a way to pin point a difference between the 5.2L and 5.9L by just looking at them.

I will second that. My Chevy has 4.10's and love it. Being my ram's 4wd it is expensive to change gears.

Most Rams (not sure if it was SLT package and above or what) came with the option for 3.92 gears, most people just didn't get that option.
The only way to get 4.10s from the factory was the Off-Road package. And yep, the new Off-Roads only come with 3.92s.
Unless a previous owner dropped a different engine in there, the sticker on the underside of the hood should tell you what you have.
