1999 Ram 1500 4x4 Removing Transmission

I have a 1999 Ram with the 5.2 with 100k on it.

The transmission is slipping going out of first and has no passing gear whatsoever. So im gonna go to the junkyard, yank one out and just swap em. Can anyone give me pretty detailed steps on how to do this? Its a big project...Im 18 and have the whole summer to do nothing, and this is my project. I know enough...but not a ton.

Any instructions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Just pay careful attention to where everything goes. Here's a tip for how to get the trans fully out.

After you get most of the bolts out and take the cross-member out you can take the jack and lower it slightly to let the trans sag a little so you can get to the 4 bolts on top of the trans that bolt up to the back of the engine block.

Also, to get the torque converter bolts disconnected use a large socket (I can't remember what size) and manually turn the engine over using the crank bolt to get to each one.

I just rebuilt my trans back in November/December. All in all I had to drop it 3 times. The first time it took me about a day to get it out, the last time it took me about 2 hrs!
