Default Summit (Pacesetter) header question

Hey guys, this is a question mainly for anybody who has these headers.. after removing my old exhaust manifold, I tried to install the headers and the 1" long bolts they give you with the headers seem to be too long.. I can only thread them in like 3-4 maybe 5 threads max.. what's the deal with that? I can't get the bolt even remotely close to tight.. the headers just flop around because they're so loose.. maybe I'm doing something wrong?

Pull the header out, and run the bolts into the holes, and see how far they will go. They should go in a LOT further than that... Might need to get a tap the correct size, and clean up the threads in the heads.

Put in studs and forget about bolts. Use these nuts in stainless and never have to worry about broken bolts in the head.

I used a set of Stage 8 bolts without issue.
Cleaning out the threads is a good practice, regardless of that is being used.

I appreciate the advice guys! Turns out after a trip to home depot, they sent me the wrong thread count.. they were the correct size, just maybe 20 tpi instead of the stock 18 tpi. Got some new stainless steel ones and they're ready to go

Yeah, that'll make a difference.
