to lift or not to lift! lol

ok so i have a 97 ex cab 1500 318 2wd. well i want the fabtech 6.5" lift and ive bn talkin to my autotech teachers and they are sayin ima dumbass to lift a 2wd. but i was like dude im doin it to look badass i dont ever even do any crazy offroading bc my truck wont fit through the trails but i can make it through alot of the **** anyways. so i was wondering wat u guys think. i just want sit above everybody else. im going to b a senior next year and i want my **** to stand above everybody elses.

throw in ur 2cents please.

Id do it, i just got out of High school and i was driving a car. All my friends were giving me sh** cause id had nothing to go mudding in, and all their trucks were 2wd. So one day, i said Fuc* yall and i got the beast i own now. WHOS THE BIT** NOW!!!!:D

Cereal Killer 06-03-2009 04:48 PM

Well for starters the fabtech lift doesn't work with 2wd. The front end is set up differently. If you want your truck to be higher get a 3" bodylift. That'll only set you back about $250 bucks, so you can still clear some 33" tires.

listen to your autotech teachers. if youre gonna do it do it right and get a 4X4, IMO lifting a 2wd is idiodic.

clivanec 06-03-2009 05:04 PM

first off fabtech does make a 2wd lift kit that will work on 2wd trucks. ive seen it done!
well the 3" body is only $250 but 4 wheel parts is goin to charge me $640 to instal it bc im not goin to install it myself. and i want my **** to sit high! im talkin maybe a 6" rear and 8" front with the 3" body as well. its not to go offroad hardcore. all the trails i hit are little anyways. i just want to b the one on the road everybody is looking at goin holy **** thats badass!!! lol

both pics are the same truck that I had prior to getting the 10....I kinda wish I still had it! lifting does change the ride quality obviously, makes certain noises but all in all worth it!

I am not trying to flame here... remember you ASKED for my $.02 but when I saw your truck lifted that high, I would notice there is no diff. in the front and I would call you a f*ing tool to my self as I drove by.

again, you asked for my opinion.......

for the money you are going to pay somebody to do this work you could probably get a decent rig off ebay. Truck prices are at rock bottom.

Lifted 2X4s look stupid unless you're a Baja prerunner.:D FYI, lifting ANY truck means more maintenance, more wear, and often more breakage of very expensive parts. Doing it just for looks is a waste of money. My days of running 40-inchers and breaking axles are over. Yeah, it was nice to have a sky-high truck and look down on all the peons, but you better have a fat wallet to keep up with all the crap that wears out or breaks. Not to mention it makes your truck handle like crap and loading things like ATVs and dirt bikes (something I find much harder to do now that I'm 50 and still ride them) is a major PITA. As you get older and your ego tones down you start to appreciate having a truck that actually steers straight and doesn't break going through a mud puddle.:p

Thats cute, post ford pics on a dodge forum....:D Thats a 4X4 truck, not 2x4.... Not bashing you, but a lift only looks good on a 4X4.... I wish Viper was here to throw a temper tantrum over that statement :D:eek:
