No Turn Signals
A friend of mine's mom has a 95 2500 4x4 V10 regular cab long box with 150k miles.
The turn signals don't work at all. The hazards work fine and she's replaced the fuse and bulbs. When the signal handle is pulled on, I can hear one 'tick' like it wants to blink but won't. Is the switch bad in the column? We don't know where to look. Any help is appreciated. Oh and the blinker fluid is topped off :) |
The next thing I'd do is replace that lever. $45 ish on eBay or at a junk yard, and a fairly common thing to go wrong.
|
First recheck the fuse in the fuse block (the one between drivers door and dash panel). At this fuse block there are also two identical relays. One for turn signal the other one for hazard. Interchange them. If the turn signal works now the relay is faulty. For more detailed wiring check this at page 17
|
+1 on checking the relay first. Then change the multifunction switch if the relay doesn't fix it.
|
Thanks everybody, we'll keep you posted.

Tire shop fixed it right away. It was some little $5 switch. I think it was called the turn signal instrument. Anyway, they work great and she's happy. Thanks.

What was the part that they replaced? i am having the same problem but my dodge is a 99 ram 1500 so it a multi hazard/signal flasher which i have replaced.
|
Oh and the blinker fluid is topped off :) huh? |
Has anyone ever figured out what the switch was he replaced?? I am having this EXACT same problem. Running lights work........flashers work.......turnsignals quit......when I move the turn signal lever I can here the relay "click" but not flashing? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

The flasher is what they most likely replaced.

Any idea what hes talking about
I'm having similar issue washed my 97 truck and lost turn signals never had hazards and apparently my brake lights may not be working had brake lights and turn signals prior to washing nothing shows up on dash when activated but park lights work
|
Got a trailer harness on your truck? Do you front turnsignals work?
|
Is the idiot light turn signal on the dash doing a fast blink or staying on or not even lighting up?

check fuses.... also, see if water got into any of the lamp housings.
|
You say you never had hazards.
I had no turn signals, hazards or brake lights. It turned out to be the multifunction switch. The whole turn hazards and washer unit/switch. My turn signals didn't work because the click and lock action on my switch broke, and then hazards wouldn't click back to the off position. Make sure the hazards are in the down position. Push it all the way down and then try the turn signals, if they work, replace your multifunction switch. |
No turn signals
I have a busted turn signal housing up front all fuses are good the switch still clicks and wiper and head light dimmer still work
|
If it's busted, i would just replace the multifunction switch. Sometimes they can short out partially outside. I still had wipers and such. It's like 50 bucks on rock auto
|
Also, if you have tilt wheel, the harness is just a bit short.... and if you put the wheel all the way up, it can pull some of the wires out of the connector.

HOLY CRAP PEOPLE!
You dug up my old thread from 8 years ago???? Wow, that brought up some crazy memories. The "friend" was my ex. Thanks :/ |
large ground terminal under battery tray and near cruise unit has broken or corroded wires, it may look good an crimped but wire is corroded in half due to exposed copper, i have encountered this on every ram having lighting issues, its has a 10mm nut mounting it and has about 13 wires going to it an terminal is copper and soldered and crimped but they didnt heat shrink so the copper gets oxidized and turns green an the wires dont make a connection
