Angry A/C blows hot air

A/c used to blow ice cold air until a week ago I went into store for 10 min. and left the truck idling. When I came out of the store to get into my ice cold truck. It was hot. I tried to re charge with freon but the gauge says its full. Yesterday it blew cold air for about 10 min. then hot. Please any help. Its not getting any cooler out. 1995 ram 2500
Thanks

Mine went out yesterday. Mine may be a slow leak though. My compressor still kicks in and out. When you check the pressure with the AC on, does the compressor come on? The pressure that you see may look normal if the compressor is not kicking in. So make sure you can hear it click.

as soon as you turn the ac on the compressor should turn on. with the truck running look at the clutch on the front of the compressor, it should be sitting there doing nothing. turn on the ac and look at the clutch on the front of the compressor, it should be moving with the pulley. if not then its probably either a bad electrical connection to the compressor, maybe a fuse/relay, or the compressor took a dump on ya.

by nothing do you mean that the clutch doesn't engage when you turn on the ac? if so i'd swap the horn (or fog light) and the ac clutch relays (if the horn/fog lights work) to see if its that, if it is then you can get a new relay at napa for around 10$. if not then i'd say that either the clutch is shot and i think you can get a clutch rebuild kit to avoid having to buy a whole new compressor or maybe you aren't getting power to it for some reason like one of the wires being rubbed through. first thing i'd check is that relay though. and you shouldn't have more than 45 psi in the system but i don't believe it'd shut off the compressor.

There is a safety built into most A/C compressors and they shut off, or won't engage if the pressure falls below 20psi. Try the relay first and it that doesn't work try putting a gauge on the low side and and see how low it has gone. If neither of those works then you need a new clutch or compressor.

most of the time its going to be the compressor but thats just me because every time the AC is not working its always the compressor , but thats just me so just a lil hint . But it could be other things though , Just not my luck . Hope u found your problem.

I have the same problem. My a/c blows hot air. Replaced the compressor, recharged system but still have no cold air. Could it be one of the actuator doors in the dash... Please help thx

I suspect my blend door is toast, I only get heat regardless of what setting it's on.

So I just bypass the heater core in the summer months and I have nice COLD AC!
