Default Collar in CAD assembly

I did the passenger side U-Joint and axle seal in my '97 1500 today and can't remember how the collar went in on the CAD. I took it out to make driving the axle seal easier. I took a gamble and put it in with the tapered side towards the passenger side. Hope I'm right. Anyone know for sure as one end of the collar is square and one end is tapered.

i don't know. is the taper on the inside of the collar, so that it guides itself over the inner shaft as it slides on. if so, then i'd think the taper would be to drivers side.

if the taper is on the outside of the collar, i can't see what purpose that would serve.

edit... i've worked on my cad a couple of times putting on and dicking around with my posilok, but i've never had the collar off, nor noticed the taper. i wonder if mine is on wrong, since its a little hard to engage. hhmm.

Pretty sure the tapered side goes toward the wheel and square side toward the pumpkin.

Yeah, the taper is on the outside of the collar.

Miami Son, I hope you and I are correct. Guess I'll find out tomorrow when I get the tires back on and take it for a ride. Anyone else with opinions/knowledge on this?

if you can put the truck up on 4 jack stands and either crank it up to supply vac, or simulate vac with an external source, you can test it there in the shop in a controlled environment, rather than out in the road.

DH, give him that link to the Trak-Lok install. I'm pretty sure there's a picture of the CAD opened up and you can see the collar clearly.
