It wasn't the tps

Ok well, I finally got tired of all the symptoms you guys explained about a bad tps like bogged down take offs and what not so i took my truck to my mechanic. He hooked it up to the computer and it said all of my sensors were fine. Luckily my truck started to sputter and sounded like it wanted to shut off in front of the mechanic and we could hear a loud air sucking noise before i reved the engine. He says it sounds like there is air blocked somewhere but i just had the engine rebuilt 10k miles ago and it was doing this before it was rebuilt. i'm not sure what else it could be.

The sucking noise is the IAC, you could try cleaning it and the hole it installs into, or just replace it. Or maybe a bad o2 sensor and /or cat going bad.

mm he checked the iac and said it was fine, cat was replaced in 06 but i haven't replaced any o2 sensors so maybe that could be it

I think I would still atleast clean the IAC and the port just to see what it looks like.

when you had it rebuilt did they do the plenum gasket with the felpro gasket? if so more than likely the plenum is leaking again. or the cat is clogged since it has been done in 06 and the engine was rebuilt 10k ago chances are a clogged cat. If you have a welder cut the pipe after the cat and gut it then weld pipe back on. save yourself some money for now.

+1... That's where I was going next , but I sound like a broken record and was hoping it is something else ;)

I forget what thread I read this in, but there was a guy on here who had similar symptoms as you have (sucking noise and didn't run great) and it ended being that the pre O2 sensor wasn't threaded in correctly. He ended up just re tapping it and installing a new one. It worked fine after that. Just taking a shot in the dark.

hmm, i'll take a look at the iac. i was gonna take the cat off anyways since i ain't gotta pass emissions down here but the last time it was clogged the truck wouldn't shift right so i dont think it's clogged and so help me if the plenum is leakin i'm gonna take the intake and shove it up the rebuilders *ss. and its not running like crap, it just stumbles a little in the morning and it worries me.

No matter what brand gasket they used on the plate, if the bolts are too long it won't matter. And unless they frequent this site, they would not know that.

Check your muffler bearings.
