3/4 ton springs on a 1/2 ton?
 

I am wondering about two things...

1. will they fit?
2. will I see any "lift" over my regulat 1/2 ton springs?

My main goal with my truck is going to be hauling my slide in camper, and really, I would rather have heavier springs. I am looking at going the other way, (add a leaf for 2 inch lift and an air bag set up for the extra weight) and really not sure which is the lesser of two evils... Besides the slide in camper (1300 lbs dry) pulling a horse trailer (bumper pull 2 horses trailer) like 10 times a summer for my girlfriend to show her horses.

Now I am not thinking I will have a 3/4 ton truck when I do this. I know I am still limited by the 9.25 I have been looking for a 3/4 ton truck for a while now, and a everything I look at is either a fortune, beat beyond belief or both. My goal is a 3/4 ton Cummins, but at the moment its just not a reality.

So these are my choices. :icon_shrug:

Any help would be cool...

Welcom, 3/4 tons leafs are 3" wide our 1500 are 2.5" wide. So to answer yr question no. Sorry buddy try agin lol.

Now I know... I searched for that answer, and do you think I could find it?

Now to find a good set of uses air springs...

Go with the air bags,. I have the "Timbrens" and wish I would have just paid the extra money upfront. You won't be dissaapointed.

How about changing the hangars and swapping the spring mounts on the rear axle. Grinder and a welder and about an hour I would have this done.

I would bet this takes more than an hour...

Either way, the most likely choice for airbags is a Firestone no drilling kit. A few buddies have that system for various trucks (1994 gmc, 2006 ram, 1998 ford) and they all love the firestone bags...

Timbrens
 

They are ok but here's my issue. I have mine set up about 1 1/2 inches from the leaf assembly. When my weak suspension travels past the 1 1/2 inches the Timbrens are in contact with the leaf assembly. They have very little give and the truck feels like it "bottoms out". It is just against the Timbrens making for a rough ride. My suspension is about as weak as they come making the situation more noticiable. My truck does ride nice without any load on the suspension thus the reason I haven't replaced the mains or beefed up the leaf assembly. I like the bags because you can adjust them and keep the soft factory ride when you are not under a load. Just my 2 cents.

I have a full on machine shop set up in my shop. This is quick easy work for me.

Anyhow how about just adding add a leaf springs. Simple adn easy . Not to mantion no dang air bags to leak down. Its a one time install.

I would think an air bag. The bag helps the truck hold more weight and smooths out the ride. I'm sure the horses will like that.
