got my truck back from having gears put in :)

but did you have the speedometer corrected for different tire size?.... but that sounds kinda right...that would mean around 2100 rpm with factory 29" tires at 70mph...(just like my 35" and 4.56)
btw my factory size sized e250 van is at 2400 rpm at 70mph.....
if your down at like 1600 rpm at 70 your tranny has to be constantly shifting in and out of od and you likely never even reach od in the town/city roads....

ok guys im not trying to hyjack the thread, but how can you tell what gears you have i mean i know mine came out of the factory with 3.55's and i see ya'll talking about ya'lls rpms at certin speeds. Now is that at full throttle or just cruising because i went and test mine out and at 60 my rpms at a hair over 1500 and i have those 33's on there.

4.56 gears with 35" tires work exactly the way factory gears work with smaller 29" tires...on our rams. both together = same final gear ratio and load on engine and tranny) the shiftpoints would all be the same as stock...(3.55 gears and bigger wheels is harder on the tranny and engine) If you have 33 inch tires 4.10 gears are ideal for highway....however if you only drove at highway speed and never towed 3.92 might gain you more mpg...but less power and less fun to drive.
contrary to what many believe depending on your driving habits your mpg can improve with 4.56 gears ..even on the highway since the tranny can stay in od with more ease ...when you have big tires and 3.55 gears most people are always into the gas pedal more trying to get power that isnt there anymore and they dump that wasted gas right out the exhaust...
I contribute my crappy mileage to bigg nobby mud tires and my driving habits.... I know I could do better.

and if you were at 70 you would be at around 2100 prm... That is normal and exactly the same rpms at the same speeds I get with my 35" tires and 4.56 gears...
if you have something different than something is off from stock ratios...it could even be the speedo thats off
