Default EGR Kegger for Non EGR?

I think I'm going to be doing the plenum gasket fix and was just wondering if anybody knows if I can use the intake off of a 96 ram with EGR to replce my 98 so I could do the kegger mod ahead of time. I think I can get the 96 intake cheap.

i went from EGR to non-EGR manifold when i did my plenum, ive gotten a CEL twice in the past 5K thats it.

it may be easier for you to get a non egr...cuz if your going to add egr, you may not have the port on the headers, yo'll need to add vacuum lines, egr valve etc.

if it would work, he would just block off the egr cause he wont have connections and such to actually add egr.....compare the two intakes, some had 2 coolant sensors, some 1, also some had diff # of vac ports

how did you block off the EGR port on the exhaust manifold? what about the vacuum lines and wiring harness?

this is what i did...

i cut the pipe off the headers and back of manifold so there was a little part of the pipe in on each side....pushed some thick bolts into them where the body could fit into the holes, and the head was to big to go down, so i had them weld the bolts in lol.

the new manifold came with an egr block off plate so i used that to block off where the egr went. then i took little screws to put in the vacuum lines that went to the egr valve, and thats it, its worked so far..

I would'nt have to worry about the exhaust as my engine is non egr type. Looks like it will be awhile as I've run out of money after buying the electric fan and controller, superchips tuner, and new steering stabilizer.
I just started getting the ping between 2500 and 5000 rpm and when I changed oil yesterday I only got 4 qts out of the crankcase on 1500 miles. I'm hoping to do the TBS cleaning later this week when my new aircleaner comes in so I should know how bad it is then.
I see the Hughes kit is only $86.00? Would that include the new stretch bolts do you think?

yea i bought the one for 86.00 it came with plate, bolts, gasket, and two cool hughes stickers lol

as for the oil. 1 qt. gone in 1500 miles? the plenum cant swallow that much oil IMO...so i think something else (as well as plenum) may be draining the oil.
