Default Has anyone turboed a 5.2?

My 99 Ram is 2wd 5speed and it’s got a great sleeper look to it. Super faded paint but straight body work. It’s not my daily driver just a vehicle I picked up for cheap. With only 97,XXX on the odometer I feel it would be a good candidate to add a little boost to. If anyone has done this please bestow your knowledge upon me! Not looking to win the NHRA worlds or anything just think a street truck with some attitude would be nice to tinker with.

There is a guy that has turbo'd a 5.9, which is essentially the same external dimensions as the 5.2. You should be able to find his setup on YouTube - here's the link to the videos - https://www.youtube.com/playlist?lis...QjF20pkGeFr5Xa

Just found his videos. He is running a twin turbo setup. With a stand-alone ECM was hoping to stick with the factory ecm and tune it. I’ll keep digging thanks for the information!

To tune the factory PCM, you will either need to pay someone for custom tunes (and provide data logging information so the tunes can be generated from that info) or do it yourself with something like HPTuner which now works on the Dodge JTEC PCMs.

I have a friend with HPTuners. I’m honestly looking to go the cheap eBay turbo route and fab up all my components. I’m a Chevy guy and I know the the dos and don’ts for GM platforms just wondering where to start with a mopar. I know intake plenum is a weak point I don’t want to make huge gains as mentioned before. I would like to stay away from the changing internals. Come to think about it I might should just try pepping up the 5.2 without forced induction.

How you go about it depends on what your power goals are. You are going to have a hard time going over 300 without internal work (might have a hard time getting TO 300 without some serious mods....).... (or, nitrous, or forced induction....)
