Can't get diff cover off

ALright, the last time the diff fluid was changed in this truck, the person that did it used half the RTV sealant in the world. I took off the bolts and it will not BUDGE. Anyone know of a tool to use.

I have tried beating the crap out of it with a rubber mallet, wedging a screwdriver in the sides, and even tried prying it gently in the fluid level hole.

Is there anything else? I already siphoned the fluids out thru the hole, i am thinking of just using the hand pump to put the fresh fluids in and call it a day. But I want to clean the inside of the diff cover,m inspect and paint the diff cover.

P.S. I am using 100% Lucas oil additive in the diff. It said it can be used 100% and will not void the warranty...and it also does not need the limited slip additive. Anyone else try that?

Stick your finger in the hole and pull real hard?:)

I was using a screwdriver and rubber mallett. I will use the hammer. I was getting impatient ebcause i wanted to do this with about an hour of daylight left.

I will get it done tomorrow. It is just a slap in the face when something so simple makes for a timely consuming job.

THANKS!!!

even if you have to get a slot cut in it with a screwdriver or something, then use a hacksaw blade to go the rest of the way around if its fighting you that awful bad. i would just persuade it tho....wedge a prybar or screwdriver in it and then pry back with it
