What ya'll run for alarms/remote starts?
 

Anybody here got an aftermarket alarm or remote start in there rams?

Just picked up an AutoPage C3 RS730 LCD for mine; installing her tomorrow.

I got one in my Ford Escort (lol), and it works pretty good. Just wondering what you all or running..

And this install should be cleaner, more space under the dash. The escort I ended up running all the ignition wiring under the seat, it sucked.

I got a viper 550HF that thing is so sensitive. I remember when i was like 10-12 my dad would park this truck behind the trailer and when lightning would strike and shake the ground it would go off. That system is great.

Not to thread jack, but I don't want to start a new one.

On my build sheet, it says I had factory remote start. As the truck passed owners, I ended up with it, but with no remote start. Can I get a new remote that will work on it, or do I need to get a whole new set-up if I want it?

I wired up a hornet one time in my truck... but im pretty sure there was a malfunction in the brain box possibly. I had it on voltage sense and it would work no problem on a cold start (high idle). But lets say you drove it somewhere and tried to remote start then. It would start... run for a few sec and shut off, then do that 3 times total and stop. It wouldn't sense the truck was running. Then tried to tap the coil wire, and program that... found out the voltage was too high to program so I then tap'd a non common injector wire. Then it got the signal but would keep cranking after it had started. I couldn't understand how it would work when cold, but not when semi warm. It still should sense a voltage difference just like it does on cold start. Then to top it all off one time I remote started and then when I got to the truck I turned the key one too many positions. :( fml. So ripped all of the remote start wiring back out of the truck and said that was that. I ran it like that for a month hopefully trying to tweak it to finally work correctly, but it was a no go. I still wish I would have tried a different brain box... but it is done and over with now

Dam, I had that happen on;y once on my escort. It was running and it kept tried to start. Sometimes the Alternator don't put an RPM signal out (in my case the belt was slipping bad); that;'s the common problem. On a tachless system, the RPM can be determined by the alternator somehow (not sure how it works). Like on nice battery testers, it will say the RPM by hooking up to positive and negative, ushally it leads to a bad alternator. Not sure when it is hot though why it won't work.

Yeah, the cost of a remote is going to be like $60-70 (i can't find any), plus the dealer is going to have to program it because you don't have any. A nicer unit like mine runs $150, and you can get em cheaper. I'd just get a whole new setup. Plus the newer ones have a longer range. Factory back then was probably like 40 feet lol.

I park next to unlocked Cadillacs, Lincolns, Toyotas, and GMCs. Raid the worn out Dodge or the brand new Sequoia? IDK if that idea goes through the crack addict's head, but hey, it works! Thats security if you ask me!

I've got a Viper remote start and keyless entry on mine. It comes in handy during the winters and cold weather.
