The S-10 is and has always been one of the worst pieces of feces ever to masquerade as a truck. Admittedly, it's miles ahead of its predecessor the LUV (manufactured by Isuzu) but that ain't sayin' much.

Maybe you've been out in the sun too long?

Still, it's good to know you're still alive and kicking.

S-10 owners never do like those sorts of comments before they learn the hard way to agree with them. I've known lots of S-10 owners since 1982, but no second S-10 owners.

This little baby blue is my Dad's seventh.

Considering there are a few places where Chevy could have built these lil trucks better, but this truck has not have had half of the problems that our Dodge has over the years. The one thing I wish for in this truck was a bigger engine...something like a 5.3 V8 out of a Silverado.... And the rust, oh the rust. But thats what you get for buying a truck that spent its life in south Michigan,.

I used to own a 91 gmc sonoma ext. cab with the 4.3. It was my first truck and i drove that thing hard for 2.5 years. I drove it like i stole it everyday (I was a typical high schooler) and offroaded it hard. The only things i had to replace was the cap and rotor and fix the rear springs. I snapped the mounting bracket off while offroading/firewood cutting. It was a great truck

Before he retired, my Dad had an S-10 for his road-service truck and loved it, never had to do anything to it, other than normal PM.

my dad had an old 84 S-15 for a few years before I got my licence, then it lasted through me somehow, and then he did a bodyjob and painted it and gave it to my sis... she ran it forever til she threw a rod out the side...

I was haaarrd on that truck too, being 16 and livin out here in a small town....

I drive a big truck to compensate for my small *****.

Wait, I didn't really type that........

I have driven several S-10s, and even owned a few. Issues I have had range from rusting out to the point that various suspension parts no longer were a part of the truck...... to someones brilliant idea of putting hideously expensive electronic parts in place of a mechanical linkage, such that, if one HE part fails, no more four wheel drive. Oddly enough, the HE parts tend to fail on a fairly regular basis.

The 2.8 V-6 was WAY to whimpy a motor for them. The 4.3 was better, but still, left them under powered. (even the W motors, with the CPI.... which was another failure prone HE part.......)

I replaced my last S-10 with my Dodge, because I wanted a truck with a V-8, four wheel drive that worked when I wanted it to, and not at the whim of some electronic wizardry, and something that I could actually SEE the parts I wanted to work on, and not have to guess, and go by feel to do something as simple as changing sparkplugs. Not to mention being able to haul 3000 pounds of dirt.... something an s-10 would be sitting on the bump stops, and would struggle to get up to 40 miles an hour..... (in my experience)

I worked on one, a two door s-10 blazer.... We dropped a TPI 305 v-8 into it. Little longer than a 4.3, but, basically the same dimensions otherwise, THAT was the 'right' sized motor. It actually became a pleasure to drive, and the v-8 got BETTER mileage than the 4.3 it replaced.
