I've only ever used 5w-30 on newer engines (the old piles get 15w-40:D)
If you live in a climate where its generally warm all year around you can get away with running 10w-30, but if it gets cold for more than 1/2 of the year (like me, gotta love wisconsin with its 2 weeks of summer :D) I'd recommend the 5w-30, the lower the wieght of the oil the better its going to drain back into the pan to keep everything else lubed up |

I only use 10w-30 from mobil 1 with a fram oil filter. I put 156k on my last truck and it didnt burn anything. Dont be cheap with the oil get the full synthetic (spelling?)
Good luck |

Thanks zeekxxx
That's exactly what I used...My oil pressure gauge was acting up but now it seems that it's keeping at 40. I wonder what the previous owner had in there??? |

See if its your oil pressure sending unit. If these trucks have them, Not sure if thats too old school for this era of trucks
