I've only ever used 5w-30 on newer engines (the old piles get 15w-40:D)

If you live in a climate where its generally warm all year around you can get away with running 10w-30, but if it gets cold for more than 1/2 of the year (like me, gotta love wisconsin with its 2 weeks of summer :D) I'd recommend the 5w-30, the lower the wieght of the oil the better its going to drain back into the pan to keep everything else lubed up

I only use 10w-30 from mobil 1 with a fram oil filter. I put 156k on my last truck and it didnt burn anything. Dont be cheap with the oil get the full synthetic (spelling?)

Good luck

Thanks zeekxxx

That's exactly what I used...My oil pressure gauge was acting up but now it seems that it's keeping at 40. I wonder what the previous owner had in there???

See if its your oil pressure sending unit. If these trucks have them, Not sure if thats too old school for this era of trucks
