with the amount of money i have spent on the truck i could have had it fixed by now i have never had to put one in the shop to be fixed but this is getting dragged out to long
Yeah, sometimes ya just gotta bite the bullet..... Not having a good scan tool is really a handicap when working on these guys.... I don't know many folks that have 2500 bucks to blow on one though.... at least, not folks that DON'T do it for a living...
Another no start. P0123 high voltage at TPS. Lets do a PCM memory test first. Key on remove the TPS connector from the TPS. Does the CEL come on? No leave it unplugged for resistance test with key off. If Yes plug it back in and key off. Now key on again is CEL on? Next need to test resistance of the circuit. Key off unplug the TPS and the PCM C1 connector(wait atleast 2min after key off to unplug PCM). Measure resistance at the TPS connector pin 1 and 2, what do you get? Heres better test yet. Plug TPS in with key off disconnect both pcm C1 and C2 connectors and measure restistance at pin 17 to ground, what do you get? OR with key off plug PCM C2 back in and measure resistance between pin 17 and 4 at the C1 connector what do you get? During any of the test wiggle the harness why watching the meter and dont spread the terminals on the pcm connectors. I dont give the reading(or answer) it should be i want you to give me the readings you get out of your DVOM.
OK we had alittle time to get the meter out and run a couple of tests. We discinnected the pcm c1 connector and measured the resistance between pin 17 and pin 4. We got like something about 20ohms ? We then unplugged the c2 connector and had continuity at c1 pin 17 ? What does this all mean ? Check light is still on and truck starts and runs fine. Any thoughts would be great.
yup i dont have one of those and the shop down the road said they will come pick it up and tell me what is wrong with it for $100.00 so i think before i keep shooting it the dark with 50 50 50 50 50 on parts i am gonna let them look at it

Good deal someone actually used there meter and posted the results. When you probed pin 17/4 this is the complete circuit that the 5volt takes back to ground at the pcm. You test resulted in 20ohms which is a dead short in the 5volt supply wire. To confirm this you next disconnected both C1/C2 at the PCM testing pin 17. This should be an open circuit as the circuit ground is disconnected at the PCM (normal return). Yours tested continuity which confirms test 1 of a dead short. Check the TPS wires along the harness for breaks all the way back to the PCM. Did you wiggle the wires/harness when testing? That will help track down the shorted 5volt wire.
