Default New fuel pump question.....

I'm buying a new fuel pump from rockauto.com, and I see that both the Airtex and Carter have pumps which say they work for both 26 and 34 gallon. I would like to buy the OEM Delphi pump, but both of those only mention 35 gallon. I have a 26 gallon tank. How can some pumps work for both 26 and 34 tanks, and some say only 35 gallon, how is that possible?.....if a 26 can work for a 34, then can't a 35 work for a 26?.........(I'm also thinking either the 34 or 35 is a typo, why would they make 2 sizes 1 gallon apart?)

One of the Delphi pumps on there says "2 port tubes, except 35g fuel tank"....I'm thinking the other port is the evap tube judging by the picture, which you wont have to swap over because its included, but what does "except 35g fuel tank mean"?

I looked up Airtex a little, they seem to have a good rep, I might go with them, any thoughts?

Thanks

Not sure where you found that info on airtex, but, I won't install one. Don't care how much the customer bitches about it. I don't like doing the same job over again. (and again...) Airtex has a horrid reputation anywhere I have been. (GM, and Dodge forums.) Sure it's cheap, but, you will be replacing it again within the year.

Call your local parts store, see if they can get you a delphi number for the pump. Then look it up on Rock Auto, and see what the price difference is. I know the Advance Auto Parts store here will price match them. (and you don't have to pay shipping either.)

Except means everything but the 36 gal tank. Use delphi fg0237. I have the 26 gal tank put it in 3 weeks ago and it worked perfectly.

Ive never heard anything good about Airtex , no matter what forum you go to, there reviews are always bad. In my opinion the Delphi fuel pump is the best, and I personally wouldn`t use anything else.

I have a brand new Delphi fuel pump/sending for my truck that I need to have installed as soon as I can afford to have it done.

It would be so nice and so easy to replace a fuel pump if there was an access cover in the bed over the gas tank.

Consider your self lucky, most of them don`t last a year after there installed.

You know I never understood why not. As someone who gets paid to do them, I still would rather not and usually pass them off to a young line tech.
