80's style rims issues

soo my rims, from a 89 Ram charger the "generallee look" rims so that everyone's aware of how they look, they are 15in rims, but rub on my tie rod end, i still need to safety and e test so is there any way to make these fit and pass safety i have a 2001 ram 1500 and they look badass in my opinion, i love them and would prefer them fit, any help?

check the offset versus stock, maybe some spacers would help it out some depnding on the difference. get a measuring tape out and measure stock and measure the new rims and post the measurements

ok i thought about spacers but they aren't safe, the truck wont pass safety, and i'd measure it but they both have tires mounted.. any way i can measure with tires on? or did you mean the backspacing ?

how bad is it rubbing, if just a little bit can you grind the ends of the tie rod and pass your safety test. Thats seems to be what most people that have that problem do

i couldn't say exactly how much, maybe 1/32 to 1/16 of an inch?

Some say the spacers ain't safe but I know of plunty of Mustang guys running them with no problems. Is it a full turn issue or all the time?

Nortzy Sep 7, 2010 11:39 PM

well it's all the time it rubs on the tie rod end, and a halfton pickup weighs more then a mustang, let alone the size in general is bigger, i know of tons of people with jeeps and daks with spacers but i don't think it's safe on a half ton..

You have a point there. Is the tire rubbing or the rim?

Nortzy Sep 9, 2010 03:37 PM

the rims rub.
