Cat didn't fix my problem
OK...i'm new to this forum but you guys have helped me out a ton. I just got a 94 ram with the 318 about a year ago It needed a new tranny so its sat for about a year although i did crank it and let it run every other week. Got a new tranny put in by a guy i know well (he does good work) and when i went to drive it for the first time she woud just die on me. So, I replaced plugs, dis. cap ( it was loose), and plugs (none looked too bad coming out). This didn't help a bit so we went on to looking for vacuum leaks. We found a few and discovered a check valve was bad. My canister for AC and cruise under the battery has gone bad i know but i have not gotten around to replacing it as i'm a full time student. We did discover the main culprit was the EVAC system...so being old school like i am i just isolated the system and put a small plugged hose on the outlet on the intake. This fixed the problem and i was able to drive smoothly without concern of stall. Making my way to school one weekend (3 hour HILLY drive) my truck just did not have any power. I literallly dropped from running 60 to nearly 35 goin up a hill and once i got off the interstate onto rural roads that were fairly flat i the problem persisted. The next day after class i drove and the same thing from start. Knowing the cat was going bad to begin with i assumed that was the problem. I pulled the pre-cat O2 sensor and got a little power back so i took her and had her true dualed with glass packs (sounds pretty beast but loud as hell when you get your foot in her but it was the cheapest way to go and thats good right now). At first glance this does seem to have helped my problem, but form a stop she still seems to hesitate...and by hesitate i mean like she just don't wanna do it...sometimes kicking down a gear will help other times it doesn't....i will say that she seems to just not have it to a certain point, then you can feel her just get up and go...I've never had a problem like this...I've considered pulling the plug on all of my O2 sensors jsut to see if maybe thats the problem....what else could this be? help!
