4X4 Question & Advice requested
I followed the tread on 4wd engagement but i am stuck.
When I shift into 4wd L it does not engage.
I have vacuum at the CAD & transfer case
If I reverse the black & red vacuum lines by the tranny it engages even if in 2 wheel drive/ 4wd light on front drive shaft locked so i know the CAD works
The vacuum switch on the transfer case is new. I am thinking the shifter isn't switching so the vac can be reversed. I am attemping the adjust the shifter.
It is at the end of it throw towards the front. I adjusted back towards the rear w/o any change.
Any & all help welcomed
Thanks

There is an internal arm/lever called a detent something or other, can't remember off the top of my head right now. That could be the problem.
Poppet plunger detent ball or range fork damage. Not thinking good things for you. If adjusting the shift lever/arm does not work.
BTW, you did not mention if it goes into 4HI ok or not?

4WD problem
Right now the only way I can get the 4 wd to engage (hi or Low) is to reverse the 2 vac lines @ the tranny. front drive shaft locks & light comes on.
So yes the 4 wd will work but not by the shifter.
I think it is out of adjustment ( it can only be adjusted toward the rear it is at the end towards the front) orthe linkage is binding and the vacuum is not being switched,
I am on the right track?
