285's :)

I went with the 285's over 265's and i'm happy with them for sure. I love the way they fill up the fenders so well looks awesome. I didn't see any mileage drop at all I'll post pictures asap :)

You actually will most likely see better MPG highway.

I love my 285's too. My truck was a little more sluggish, but after a gear swap that won't be an issue anymore :)

MNRAM1500 Dec 4, 2010 08:54 AM

Your right i did see improvement :D everybody says big tires are bad but i beg to differ ;)

crazzywolfie Dec 4, 2010 09:28 AM

depends on what you mean by big tires. the wider the tire the crappier the fuel mileage.

Gerehead8 Dec 4, 2010 03:51 PM

I did not have the same results of improving fuel economy anywhere including pure highway. Going from 285/75/R16 A/Ts getting 13-13.5 at best on the highway to about 15.5 on the highway with 225/75/R16's all else being the same. While the smaller tires make the motor spin slightly faster they put significantly less load on the motor. A 265-285 step is minimal and I would expect the mileage variation to be minimal.

okay... so they are 11.2" wide. How tall are they, 32.8"??

Just saying that you have "285s" only means you have an 11.2" wide tire...

saying you have "285s" could even mean you bought a 31" tire....

Remember, the first number in a metric size is section width.

I have 285/75/r15s on my ram, do you also have a problem with them rubbing the control arms?

dhvaughan Dec 5, 2010 06:02 PM

less words. more pictures...

^agreed

I had 285 BFG A/T's great highway mileage and loved the RWL.. after 50,xxx miles I got some re-treads from tread wright.. went with 265's because I didn't want to wait 3 weeks for the 285's
