Tire/wheel question? Please help!
Will 315/70 r17 tires, ruffly a 34in tire on 3gen stock wheels fit on my 99 1500 with a 3in suspension lift which includes spacers and shocks and rear aal's. I have stock control arms just wondering if these would rub real bad or not at all, thanks. Do i need to get spacers? Here is pics of the wheel and tire combo if they upload.

yeah they shoudl fit jsut fine, its the width that caused problems for me 33x13.5 r16 rubbed control arms on tighter turns. i bought some rims with 3 3/4 inches of backspacing, no rubbing.

mine fit my 2wd with abot 3 inches of lift...i only rub on tight tight tuns

You will surely rub on the control arms, but that will be minimal and easily avoided. It will also be quite close to your fender (the back portion of the front fenders), but will most likely clear.
|
Ok so how would i avoid it rubbing the control arms then?

less backspacing on the wheels. of course, that makes them stick out further, and more likely to rub on the bumper, or rear of the wheel well.

Your choices are; new wheels with less backspacing, wheel spacers with your current wheels, or somehow adjusting the steering to prevent full lock. I have heard some 2nd gens have adjusters on the axle to allow some adjustment to how far you can turn the knuckles... my truck didn't, and many do not. And like that crazy fella above me stated, with a wider stance (weather its with wheels or spacers) may cause rubbing on the fender. Honestly, I very quickly got used to it and just simply didn't steer it at full lock anymore. Its so minimal, I'm pretty sure it didn't even effect the overall steering radius. |
