99 dodge 1500 won't fully start

Default 99 dodge 1500 won't fully start

I have a 1999 dodge ram 1500 automatic it wont start at all unless i pull the cat sensor and it starts to run but cuts out when i floor the gas pedal any ideas did the cat get clogged up?

I'd say the cat is clogged.

can the cat blow the engine because i hear tapping when i put the pedal down before it stalls and here tapping

Maybe what you are hearing is crap rattling around in the cat.

i'd agree.

if you live in a place w/o emissions testing, or want to take a chance on it, saw the pipe off behind the cat, bust out the insides, and blow it out completely hollow and clean. reassemble with a pipe sleeve (or weld). remove your front o2 before bashing with a hammer to prevent possible damage to it.

You'll also want to do a search here on DF for plenum It's most likely the reason the cat is clogged.

beat on the side of the cat and see if you hear your same rattling noise. that's the insides already falling apart.

well update i pulled cat off its fine! engine now wont even turn i think the engine locked up starter works fine just engages then thumps once nada!

Make sure battery is good and clean all the cable connections. Charge the battery and have it tested.

engine is shot i got it to go and then oil shot out of one side of the exhaust pipe then all of the oil started pouring out of the leftside somewere in the middle of the engine have to clean up the mess first too see what is actually leaking!
