Default No turbo whistle

While trying to get turbo whistle I have installed a K&N cold air intake and upgraded to a bigger manifold air intake but I don't hear turbo whistle at al but the engine noise has always been kinda loudl...I don't want a loud straight exhaust system... I did get more throttle response...I didconnected the grid heater will removing the grid heater help turbo whistle?...anyway, I thought I would hear the turbo whistle after those mods but I don't...any ideas from anybody will be appreciated....Tx.

Which cummins are we talking about? 12 valve or 24 valve?
I took off the silencer ring from the turbo intake side on my '95 12 valve. Also had a BHAF, but got rid off that when I started to use my truck more offroad. Anyway, with those mods you could hear the turbo whistle more. Can't remember was it really loud, though.

Sorry, I will update my signature...24 valve 5.9 Cummins...I too thought I would hear a little bit of turbo noise which is what I wanted but I didn't get anything I can hear...truck runs good... throttle response did improve.

I don't think you wanna remove the grid heaters, that will make for hard cold starts..... and if it gets cold enough, it simply WON'T start. Depends a lot on where you live though.

You are right but I live in Biloxi, Ms. so it is probably ok to remove grid heater and simply plug in the block heater on the few days we have below freezing each year.

Grid heater has zero affect on turbo whistle. Things that affect how much you get turbo noise are before the turbo inlet, and after the turbo oulet.

Good info...Tx....I know straight pipes will get turbo whistle thru exhaust but I don't like the cab drone and noise...I don't even know if my turbo is working except the truck runs good.
