'97 Ram 2500 Maint. Req'd light reset - HELP!

I need some help with resetting the "Maintenance Required" light on my 1997 Dodge Ram 2500. (It's a v10, don't know if that makes any difference or not). Not having ANY luck finding out how to turn the darn thing off. I'd appreciate any input on this!!!

Did you trying looking at the service manual? For mine I just unplug the negative terminal on my battery let it sit overnight and then try it out. Im a 96 so we are close give that a get go. I know a quick was is to disconnect negative terminal and then touch just the clamp onto your positive to complete the circuit and drain what charge is left. I have also heard this is not good not sure but when i really need to clear codes I do that otherwise overnight with negative off is safer :)

From what I can find, it can only be reset using a scan tool of some sort, that will give you the option. Your parts store might be able to do it.... but, they may not want to, for legal reasons.

Thanks!

Just finally got to check back on here. THANKS for the advice - - I'm gonna try this afternoon and see what happens. I'm the 3rd owner of this truck, so I unfortunately don't have the service manual. May just have to go ahead and order one though, if that first tip doesn't work. I saw something about that little tool; was told I could get it from Dodge or a Dodge dealership, but not sure how pricey that would be, especially for just a light being on. Thanks again for the help!! I appreciate it!

You can get the 96 service manual from this thread. It should be pretty darn close to your 97.
