Default Temperature guage???

Hello everyone, i have a problem and hope you all can help- My temp guage doesnt move and if it does move very little and I have no heat coming in the cab(no heat/defrost). Could the problem be the thermostat is bad and is stuck closed? Thanks

Jamie

If it was stuck closed, you would overheat. More likely stuck open. What year is your truck?

Is the check engine lite on? If the engine really is running cold, it should be..... Have you checked fluid level in the radiator??

No check engine light on at all, i have another light on(but that is for the sensor I didnt change yet-code P420). The fluid is ok, just need to change it which is what I am going to do though as planned. I think it is the thermostat, could be wrong as I thought it could be the heater core too but that wouldnt make the temp gauge not work

Replace the thermostat, and then flush the cooling system. Get a GOOD thermostat. (Stant superstat. not the failsafe feller...... the tend to fail quickly....) Use some good chemical flush. Be thorough. You WANT good heat in the winter.

I bought a good thermostat and fluid just need to get out there and replace it , i thought it would be the thermostat cause the gauge wasnt moving and I dont get any heat from the blowers
