So I pulled the column yesterday and completed the rock solid ram steering fix. Reinstalled it and hooked the linkage up and the column shifter will not move the linkage. I can move it up and down and change the gear with my hand but not on the column.
The steering wheel was tied off and did not rotate, did I break the clock spring or what? How do I fix this?
Sounds like something fell off. Clockspring won't have anything to do with it. So long as your airbag lite is off, and the horn/cruise works, that should be fine.
Not in the column itself, somewhere on the external linkage. There is very little IN the column to fail.....
I had to replace the column on my 98, because the crush joint or whatever it is inside the column broke. Anyway, it's simple. If the you move the shifter and the linkage does not move, the column is hosed. Get one from a JY. The dealer was like 900 bucks at that time. (4 or 5 years ago)
