FYI power steering at full lock always makes a whine/squeal, it doesn't like it. Just before full lock will get you the same turning radius, but without the extra stress on your power steering components.
it kinda does it before full lock at times.... thats what sucks about used vehicles you never know what the hell they did to it before you got it... My f-ing horn still doesnt work...
I kept busting u-joints to find out that my axle housing was bad had alot of play causing half axle shaft to slip. Do you think the bad axle housing could have caused my steering wheel to do this? (my truck is in the shop now for a new/used axle hsg)
Having a bent axle will most certainly affect steering.... and component longevity.
As long as all your steering parts are ok and you have adjusted/spaced the tracbar for your lift, then there is an adjustable sleeve on the drag link that is used to center the steering wheel. As posted above this should have been adjusted when the alignment was done after you had your ball joints replaced.
well even before i did the ball joints it was the same.. but its going in for a aliment next week... i'm putting samller wheels and tires back on the stock rims too
this may be a case of getting the cart before the horse. If you haven't gotten your front end aligned yet I would say that if the front end man/shop knows what he's doing you'll be fine after the alignment or he'll find other issues...
Had a bunch of front end done recently. Some shops will not align the front end after or dont have the machine to do so and wont mention it. It will act fine then progressively go off. At least it happened to me in three monthes. one of my cambers was a full degree off. it can destroy tires in no time if left untouched.
One quick and easy check is to swap the front tires, left to right and right to left. If the truck pulls to the right, more than likely a cord going bad in a tire. We used to do this to cars or trucks that came in complaining of pulling to a side and caught a few bad tires before spending the time and money on an alignment.
