Fog light question....search didn't help
I know years ago fog light lenses were yellow. Now they all seem to be clear. Can anyone tell me why?
I would like to find some yellow lenses for my factory fog lights. Anybody know if these exist? |
I am sure you can find some kind of yellow covers on ebay. I will say this though, fog lights are stupid. If you are in fog, they illuminate the fog, making it harder to see, as does turning on the brights. From the factory, no fog light is aimed quite right, they all shine into the eyes of oncoming traffic. Aftermarket DRIVING lights are aim-able & useful. Nothing shines through fog.

Can't say I've ever seen factory yellow lenses. Are they OEM?

Yellow fog lights can help in the fog. I had a set on my old Chevy. Had thick fog on time and I used the fogs and parking lights only. I couldn't see with the headlights, but with the fogs I had no problem. And there is a difference between driving lights and fog lights. Driving lights have a beam that is long and narrow. Fogs are short and wide. |
European cars like Mercs, BMW's etc used to have yellow lenses, but it was kind of an 80's thing.

I was just thinking the other day that growing up, my dad had fog lights on his truck, and the lenses were yellow to help cut through the fog better. I was just wondering if anyone had ever heard of a yellow cover or something that could be put over the factory fogs on our trucks. |
A quick search on ebay only brought up yellow bulbs. If you want yellow fogs you can try those. I dont know how useful they would be though. Or you can maybe try putting some yellow window tint on the lens. Again, I dont know how useful it would be, or if it would even work.
