so sunday out playing and felt like front shaft went...well when i pulled it out of the hole this is what we found...broken uper and lower ball joints, bent tie rod end snapped axle. So my question is where can a get a upgraded axle for the d44 i am running lockers front and rear and i dont want to continue to snap axles. Also what is the best ball joints to get and what is the best tie rod end. I use my truck as a weekend toy and i play hard.
I would actually recommend upgrading to D60's, as opposed to beefing up the 44. In the end, I think it would be cheaper..... You could go with XRF balljoints, and cromemoly axles, but, with the big tires.... you will still prolly be breaking stuff.

yeah i am on the lookout for a d60 but for now i just want to at least put in good ball joints and prolly stock axle to get it driveable till i save up for the 3/4 ton swap
Look for a whole truck to snag, and use as a parts donor. Or, see if the yards around you might have a 2/4 or 1 ton laying about. Much cheaper than just buying the axles..... might get lucky on craigslist.....
yeah i feel like i am on a hunt tracking down a whole truck is the cheaper route....hey where could i get the xrf ball joints i cant seem to find any for the 1500's
