NP241LD - Where's this snap ring go??
I feel weird actually posting a tech question here...
I split open my T-case the other day to see if everything inside was looking good... and found this big boy just chillin off to the side. It's about 4" in diameter. https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-m...0/DSCN0286.JPG http://www.enterpriseengine.com/uplo.../241blowup.JPG It looks to me like it is part 59 in the diagram, but I can't figure out where it goes. Any of you smart folks out there got anything to say? |
Check part #32
|
I think it is missing pieces.... Get a new one.
|
Well, I decided to pull my head out of my butt and look it up in the service manual, and it is indeed the syncro strut spring. Not the same as pictured, that's what threw me off. By the looks of things it shouldn't be too much of a headache to dissemble and return it to its rightful home.
HeyYou: Downloadable service manual pg 21-292 has pictures of it. Its good. |
I was just about to say thats a synchro snap ring.lol

Thanks I like it too!
Well other then some chunks that came from the busted "Rear bearing retainer housing," part 8, everything looked great inside. I'm just trying to figure out how the syncro spring ring (that's a mouthful) got loose on its own... |
it happens some times. the ring possibly worked its way around until one of the ends was sitting next to one of the little golden humdingers and then worked its way loose/out
edit: hey 2x can you get me the parts numbers for parts #17, 45, 8, and 4? |
Gotta watch those humdingers. They'll get you every time!
