Won't shift from 2nd gear intermittantly
 

Hello,

I have a 2000 ram 1500, 5.9L, rear wheel drive, approx. 90,000miles on it, that intermittantly won't shift up from 2nd gear. If i turn the truck off and start it again, it shifts fine for the rest of the drive. I bought it about 3 months ago and it has had this problem since I bought it. After reading through the forums, I'm leaning towards the governor pressure solenoid but wanted someone to confirm. The fluid level looks fine, maybe slightly overfull, looks like it has been recently changed. Also wondering how much this part will run me?

check all the external electrical connections first....

If you are going to replace it, get the heavy duty borg warner part. Better than the stock piece, runs under a 100 bucks.

Replace the pressure sensor as well.

Also, only use ATF+4 fluid. Check fluid level in neutral.
