Ned some info on the 46re tranny..... what shifts the tranny?

the flywheel sensor?
throttle cable from throttle body?
signals from the CPU?

going to change eng out from an FI to a carb......need to know how to address this issue.

PCM controls governor pressure according to various inputs. (engine load, throttle position, temps, etc.) For the 46RE, you are going to need some flavor of standalone system for it to work. Since you are going backward in technology, you could use a 46RH trans, first three gears are all hydraulic, only TCC, and O/D are electronically controlled. Probably an easier system to adapt.

You are also going to have to figger out what to do about your gauges...... as they are mostly driven by the PCM as well, via the CTM. (central timer module, PCM tells CTM what's going on, CTM then gives signals to cluster as to what to do with the gauges, including speedometer, odometer, and various others. I think only the Oil pressure gauge gets is signal directly from the sensor.. and maybe not even that one.

The TV cable is a rather important part of the system also.

True, but, it's purely mechanical on both transmissions, so, I didn't bother with it.

It still needs to be attached to the TB or Carb. After all, it does adjust/set the pressure.

Ok... I gotta ask.... why go backwards? Fuel injection is better in just about every way?:icon_denk: and you already have it?

EFI is better until the EMP or solar flare stops every EFI vehicles dead in its tracks and leave only the old timers with carbs still running down the road.

Only if they have spare points/condenser/coil in their pocket. :D

Also, I think if EMP takes out my ignition system, I am going to have bigger things to worry about than starting my truck........

Solar flares should never make it thru the atmosphere. :D

lol I guess if that day ever happens and I happen to survive the nuclear radiation that sweeps over the country from the overheated waste reactor rods and the power plants and all the other things that would be more important..... I would just hop in my air cooled points/carb powered vw.... and drive it until it likely would break down..... a couple hours later...
oh wait you need electricity to power the fuel pump and coil right?...guess the ram would be sidelined carbs or no carbs...

Seriously why not pull the engine right out and get a team of horses to pull it around ;) :icon_poop:
