speaker system setup Q's

i have a 2001 dodge ram 1500 2 door truck. I want to replace the head unit, 2 front speakers, and put a sub in it (amp too??). What do i need to do this? Like, how do i know everything will be compatible with each other? Also what should i get, brand wise. I don't want to bump, i just want a quality speaker system. ANY help would be greatly appreciated here.

the most i can say from experiance is kenwood. i put in a full kenwood system in a 98 ram and i sounds great. we put 2 small subs (dont remember the size but they were small enough to fit under the back seats). but this was a few years ago and i dont remember the models or the sizes. i've also heard pioneer is a good brand.

Yes can kenwood is good brand to go with foreverything you need you can go to http://www.crutchfield.com/ and type in what truck you have and they can get you everything for the model truck you have and if you dont like the prices go to ebay and see if what they tell you will fit is any cheaper.

any aftermarket brand is good.
get the features you want, like an AUX input, ipod/iphone dock, remote control, removable faceplate. most will have 40-50 watts/channel. add amps and subwoofer as needed. power the amp direct from the battery. do get an wiring adapter and dash kit/faceplate adapter.

see this whole subforum for lots of info.

I have Alpine speakers and and an Alpine headunit.

They sound amazing and pack a punch, but they defintely don't bump.

Ive got a sony xplod head unit and 10 inch xplod sub with a 600 watt alpine amp. Pioneer 6x9s in the back and 5 inch xplod speakers in the doors. It sounds good and bumps good too
