I have and really like the MTG 2500 for graphing capability. Gives a better idea when watching live data such as TPS, IAC, O2 and such. You can see if it is a smooth change or if it is erratic. Don't think there will be much difference in cost. Most people don't know the difference

Well that settles it, I'll get the MTG I have been watching.

Stewie, Glad you like the colors.

Hey Rick, glad to see you're still around! I was just talking to a buddy about the York mount on your Magnum that isn't available anymore.

I'm in the middle of swapping a 5.2 into an 85 Wagoneer for my wife. And my 5.9 is still rocking in my Jeep.

I will say, make sure you have your heads magnafluxed to see if the heads are cracked across the valve lands. My original 5.9 heads were ALL cracked when I built it. That may be contributing to your overheating. Mine doesn;t over heat at all, with a modified TJ tank and no hood vents.

Paul,
I am not using the stock heads on this rebuild. I have some of the Monster EQ heads from Odessa with the 2.02 intake and 1.62 exhaust. I do think the heads on my 5.2 are cracked and that is why it overheats.

If you call Kilby he might still have a York mount available. He never did sell them on his web site. I just knew Brad so when I was doing my swap he told me to call him about the mount.

Glad to hear your Jeep is still on the road. Someday we all need to hook up and go wheeling. I'm up for a trip down to Browns Camp and go check out Tillamook again. It has been since 05 or 06 since I have been down there. So let me get my Jeep running again and then we'll figure something out.

Rick

Good to hear. Get ahold of me when you're back on the road and we can do some wheeling.

What cam are you planning on?

BTW, if your heads do come out all right, I'd be interested in them for my 5.2. With the mileage it, I expect to rebuild later this year, and with the 130k miles I assume they are cracked.

Take care!

Well I got my painting done for tonight. The engine block is now HEMI ORANGE instead of boring black. And the heads and oil pan turned out even better than I had hoped with this silver paint. It is going to be a cool looking engine when I get it all together. So with little ado here are some pictures for you Photo geeks............................................. ...............

Engine all taped up and the first coat of paint.................

While I was waiting for the paint to dry I got the heads out of their boxes and wiped them down. Then I also got the oil pan wiped down and scuffed up. These are some good looking heads aren't they? Just a little new parts bling for ya....................

Look at those nice LARGE intake valves. This puppy is going to flow some air now.

Then I got the heads all taped up and ready for paint. Put some old spark plug in the holes and am going to use the old valve covers to cover the valve springs while I paint.

Covered the wife's bike so it wouldn't get any overspray on it. I'd be sleeping in the garage if it did get any on it.

The Silver I got really turned out better than I could have hoped for. I am thinking I'll add a few more coats tomorrow when I get home. But even now the heads and oil pan are looking awesome.

While I was waiting to throw another coat on the parts I decided to unpack some other parts just to show off a little. Plus I wanted to get an idea what the valve covers and air cleaner were going to look like against the silver paint...................So some more NEW PARTS Bling...........................

So now I need your guys opinions. What color do I paint the intake manifold? Do I go with Hemi Orange so that I go Silver/Orange/Silver/Orange? Or do I paint it Silver to blend in with the heads? Or maybe paint it Black? Or another color if anyone has an idea for a cool color that will stand out.

So post up your ideas.......................I don't want to have to make a poll to ask this question.
