5.9L crate motor from ATK-DDA2 4 Bolt motor mount vs DD72 ?3 bolt?
Will this motor work? NAPA shipped me the wrong engine #.
According to the ATK website (page 34-35) and when I called their hotline just now I need the DD72. NAPA shipped me the DDA2... The tech at ATK said the only difference is the A2 has 4 bolt motor mounts and the 72 has 3 bolt motor mounts, everything else is the same.
The only questions NAPA asked were what year, is it a truck or van, auto or manual and how many bolts it had holding it to the tranny (I was puzzled here, seemed like strange question because I was not aware of any difference, I told him 4 or 5 because they were all only finger tight so I didn't know if one shook out from the previous owner having a local shop replace the slipping tranny). And they ship me a MY03 4bolt motor mount motor. The fact the DDA2 is for 03 should have set off some red flags for owner of NAPA making the order in front of me, had I known it said 03, I would have questioned his choice of the DDA2 since this was for an 01 1500, and the last year the 5.9 was in the 1500.... So I am guessing the DDA2 is for a 2003 2500.
Did I get the wrong motor? Will it work? Its still sitting in the crate, and I didn't want to unpack it in case its the wrong motor.
Edit: Looks like the DD72 would also cost me over $450 less ($1719 vs $2188) through a local parts store, so I think I'll be returning the motor unless NAPA would be willing to give me a full or partial refund of the difference, if the motor will even work without any modifications to the mounts.

Sounds good. With saving that extra money I had already committed to the work truck I think I'll go with a home brew e-fan setup with the TCP shroud (unless I can get someone to make me a shroud). Or put it towards a Tommy Gate.
I never realized the 5.9 was offered after 2001 in the 1500's since the 4.7 made its way into the Rams in 2002. My friend has one, it doesn't seem like it has the grunt of the magnums.
