Well iput a new camshaft sensor in n nothing.i sprayed a little starter fluid in it and it tried to start for a second then nothing..grrr...tell me does this model even have an asd and could it be effected by the temp coolant sensor or not..btw im sorry to be so complicated but i sincerely appreciate the help as this is keeping me from going to work and im really desperate..thank u all

When cranking the engine does pressing the gas pedal help at all? Like does the truck try to start when you press the gas pedal? I had intermittent starting problems with my truck until I replaced my coolant temp sensor.

Yes pressing on the gas does help and i just looked at the sensor and it appears to be damaged, however the parts house says it wouldnt cause that but ill try your advice anyway thnk u

If the sensor looks damaged, replace it. Iirc it was pretty cheap and if it is damaged it will give you problems in the future if it isn't already the problem

After tracing and retracing my situation ive found that my rotor on my distributor is pointing at my number 8terminal on my distributor instead of number one.my timing mark is on tdc and number one cylinder is at the top.it appears that my distributor may be a tooth off .does anyone know the process for fixing this and couuld it be possi le that it ran this way before my repairs.it was running but really weak on bottom end and used an unusual amt.o f fuel

Someone probably must marched the plug wires around, to make it run.... of course, that would leave injector phasing off... so it wouldn't run as good as it should.

There should be a mark on the block, and a notch in the distributor body, and they both need to line up with the rotor with number one at TDC. That sets the base, and should let the engine run well enough to get somewhere they can accurately set fuel sync.

Do i need to pick the oil pump gear up and turn it or what.

HeyYou 01-03-2013 10:37 PM

Depends..... if everything lines up good without pulling the dist, leave it. If you have to pull it, only move it one tooth at a time, until things look right. Bear in mind, seeing ANYTHING back there is a right bitch with the intake in place. :)

Lmao yes i know..i thought it was just my old eyes.nothing was lining up n i pulled the distributor so tmmrw ill try picking the gear up somehow and turning back one gear.perhaps a magnet would work?thank you.

HeyYou 01-04-2013 09:12 AM

Magnet might work, better be a strong one though. The tool I try and use is what I call a "grabby thingy"...... (yeah, nice technical term there....) Works pretty good, just gotta twist a bit while you lift.

May also be able to use a long screwdriver to turn it out as well. Good Luck. :D
