Hey all,
New to this forum so not too sure how it all works, but here's my dilemma. I just recently ran across a 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 Sport package for sale with the 360 powering it. The guy is selling it cheap because of high miles and trans issues. He has all the paperwork from a complete transmission rebuild from roughly 50,000 miles ago. Not to sure how recent this has come up, but he says that the truck won't shift into 3rd of overdrive. He also said he talked around and many people seem to think it's an electronic issue. I don't know much about transmissions at all, but after reading many other posts and threads, could it be as simple as a solenoid issue, something with the valve body? And can I do a diagnostics test to try and narrow it down?

You could probably get a transmission shop to do a free diagnostic (before you buy it), and go from there.
