Cooling Problem - Need programming Tool
Hi All,
I have a 97 Ram 1500 Sport with a 318 (5.2), two wheel drive and automatic. I had the motor rebuilt a while back and ever since the coolant temp runs about 220. I took a 2600 CFM fan and put on it and when I turn it on the temp starts to drop then the ECM adjusts and takes it right back to 220. I'd like to find a programmer for it but haven't been able to locate one that will let me change the temp setting (has a 180 thermostat) on a 1997. I know I can buy a new ECM but are there any other options?
Thanks to all for looking at this.

Thanks!
The tstat was replaced during the rebuild with a new 190. When then temp was high I pulled and had the radiator cleaned (not done during build) and replaced the Tstat with a 180 to try to bring it down, didn't work. I'll have to check the guage but it registered fine until the build. There seems to be a lot more heat coming out from under the hood as I walk by after driving. Any other ideas will be greatly appreciated.
