when i turn my steering wheel i hear this high pitched squeaking-like noise. it hasnt affected my steering ability at all. i checked the power steering fluid and its full so i know its not that. do i need lube? are my control arms messed up? please help. i drive a 2001 dodge ram 1500

 

Have someone work the steering wheel with you under the truck and try and pinpoint the noise that way.

Ball joints, among other things, will squeak like crazy when they're shot...

Idler arms will squeak too when out of grease.....

 

Is it a metallic sound or other? Does it occur while driving, not driving, or both? Are you sure it's not just a loose/glazed/worn drive belt..
