Default 97 dodge ram 4x4 help!!

i have a 97 dodge ram shortbed sport i was mudding last week and 4x4 went out now when i try to put in it acts like it locks but as soon as i hit the gas the it comes out and clunks could the this be a bad hub? drivers side i jacked up and had a lil play any ohter ideas? thanks!!

im so confused i heard it could be my vacum line running to this cad you speak of

It the light is staying on, it probably isn't a vacuum problem.

Where do you hear the clunk from?

^ read everything on that link, then put it up on 4 jack stands. start the engine to generate vacuum and test everything.

most problems are lack of vacuum, torn off/cracked hoses, or rusty/stuck shaft in the cad causing the collar to not move.

check first for strong vac on one hose in 2wd and strong vac on the other in 4wd. if you have that, dig deeper. if you vac is not right - stop and fix the vacuum problem and don't do anything else until you fix that.
