Default Speaker issues

I was toying with my deck the other day, and set the speakers to just rear. no noise comes out, except for the very rarely occasional squeak.

Upon taking off the trim, I found that the rear speakers were replaced, and the previous owner crudely rigged together some wiring. There are 4 wires going to the plug, but he has two wires going to the speaker (assumptively positive and negative). would the vehicle wiring be the problem, or the previous owners wiring?

Probably had the factory infinity system where the amps were on each speaker. Running only the 2 needed for the speaker to be powered by the radio.

Get a build sheet so you know at least what the truck started out as.

And please do not start a new thread for every problem or upgrade you'd like to do. Do a search and also go to the FAQ/DIY section and look through all the great info that's available in it. thanks
