Won't start

I have a ram 1500 and it won't start. I thought it was the starter that was giving me problems so I changed it. Still no start so I cleaned all the wires and even changed the terminals, still no start. Everytime I go to turn it on the starter clicks but the somewhere under neath the good it makes a whining noise and the power seems to short out in the cab. Please help

Does the engine crank at all?

+ 1, is the engine turning over? If not, it sounds like a flywheel problem.

So the engine doesn't crank, but the starter motor runs?

I merged your threads on the same topic so we can keep all the info in one place.
