My 1999 Dodge Ram 1500 4X4 Fix/Rebuild
Everyone remeber that 1999 ram 4X4 with the gernaded trans? Well I found a trans for it! After searching for a while I got a lead on a mystery ram sitting in a field. So turns out when I went to look at it for the first time, it was in pretty good shape, Guy told me he had just replaced the fuel pump and went to start it to test it and all he got was a click. So he got fed up and moved it to the field behind his garage two years ago. He said he had also replaced the rear brakes on it. After some looking at the truck I noticed a new filler neck, Rockers/body panels in like new shape. Told him I would pay 400.00 for it, since it was non-running and had 40000 on it. He accepted and at that time I was still "hoping" that the trans would fit "Big Red" my 1999 even though it was two wheel drive and red was a 4x4. After some digging, freed up the starter and she started, Had to free up the front pass side calliper as the rotors were just pure rust. Got it moving!. Ended up driving it home that same day. Once i got it home I got under it and was amazed, It looked like new. Frame still had paint on it. And even better! It had the 46RE. I then made a deal with my father, I get the trans and I will pull the drive train from his/my current 1995 dodge ram 1500 2x4 and install it into the 1997. But that will be another thread. So far, I have the trans installed in big red, Just waiting on a few odds and ends, Like painting the cross member for the trans, output seals, u-joints for the drive shaft. Forgot to mention, The 97 had a brand new rebuilt trans in it, Owner had it redone half a year before parking it, Proved by the torque converter with the date stamp on it. I will be posting pics soon. The 97 also came with a remote trans cooler which is now installed in red. Thats all for now but will keep ya updated and post pics soon

The rear brakes being replaced. Didn't get pics of the front calipers, pads
What came out the front diff
Local flooding
Thats a field and the road was leading to a bridge
An antifreeze leak that I hope has gone away
Replacement Intake from the junker
Rust proofing the cab somewhat
Floor Before
Can't see, but I cut out the rust out in the back, Used "Rust Disolver", then put a tin patch and tarred on both sides of the patch before I installed it, Then tarred over it,
My helper
Soaked the "soundproofing" in oil/diesel mix
Then me towing the white donor truck (Which is getting the drive train out of the grey truck this summer) to its resting spot for the winter
Had my honey drive the white truck while I towed it, She wasn't really happy, No brakes on the white truck, and no power steering as the engine was disconnected and missing the trans
