Question Still have shift issues

1995 ram 5.9 engine. 2wd. Replaced vss sensor on transmission. Tv cable is adjusted properly, tranny fluid has no metal in it.. Truck still refuses to go over 2500 rpm in any gear even if I floor it. Any ideas? Is the tv cable attached somehow on the inside of the tranny as well?

What's the status of the plenum, catalytic converter and O2 sensor?

It felt like it had almost no power before I did a tube up..that helped it considerably but when I first take off it feels chuggish.. Easiest way to tell if I have a clogged cat? And o2 sensor has a wire burned off but I get decent gas mileage and I do have a cel light

what about plenum? has it been fixed?

take a rubber mallet or a hammer and whack the cat a little, i would bet you hear things moving around in it. Mileage on the truck?

You probably need a new cat

Front O2 sensor needs repalced at least, get a Denso as Bosch sensors dont mesh with these trucks.

However none of this matters if the Plenum hasnt been addressed as it will happen all over again

I just bought the truck and it has 148k on it. Prev. Owner never mentioned messing with the plenum.. How can I tell if this is the problem?

https://dodgeforum.com/forum/2nd-gen...um-thread.html

Even IF the PO did replace the plenum he/she may not have addressed the cat....

Just went outside and banged on the cat with a rubber mallet.. Couldn't hear anything but ringing metal. Should it be a loud sound?

You could take the pre-cat O2 sensor out of the pipe and see if the truck behaves any better. It won't be a 100% improvement but if there's improvement your cat is clogged.
