97 Ram 1500 shakes while driving
 

hi... My son was using my truck (97 ram 1500) and I got the "call" he said my truck was shaking, told him to stay put and I would be there. while test driving it started shaking when crusing, I can let off the gas or press the gas hard and it quits but just crusing at about any speed it shakes. Put in reverse and it shakes also at any speed. Any ideas, Thanks

does it shake at idle? i would guess its skipping (misfiring). at idle, try disconnecting one plug wire at a time and see if one has no effect.

thanks, glad to be a member, idles a little rough, check engine light was on, checked it with a scanner and have misfire in #8 cylinder going to check plug/wire and do a compression test now. Will let you know what I find

compression test and then leak down test (see youtube) as needed.
hopefully its just a bad plug, wire, or dist cap.
