1995 dodge ram 1500 5.9 won't start
I have a 1995 dodge ram 1500 5.9 gas and its not starting. Coil isn't sparking but is getting power to it. Fuel pump is turning on just not getting a spark. Was running like new until tonight. I went off road, parked it and tried to start it back up but that's when it wouldn't crank. New crank sensor, coil, plugs, wires, alternator. dist cap is new but not the dist itself. Please help!

if its not cranking then I would check the starter first

check your auto shut off realay

If you are not getting the injectors to squirt,You need a pickup coil or (hall effect switch), in the distributor.
|
Just dead? Check battery connections and grounds.

its turning over and getting enough voltage, just not getting spark at the ignition coil. I was thinking the ECM?
|
turns out it was the cam sensor that is placed on the distributor. The wires were torn and finally corroded through after a month. Hope this helped others! If you aren't getting spark on the coil but its turning over its probably the cam sensor! $25 fix from car quest or your local part store

That is the hall effect switch in the distributor, if you pull off one of the injector connectors and put a noid light on it you would see they have no power to them when it was cranking, glad you got it fixed
