PCM's interchangeable?

I just had bought a new pcm for my 01 5.2 when I got a good deal on a 98 5.9. Does anyone know if I could use my new computer with the older model bigger engine?

It will work/run, but you should have it flashed by the dealer to match the vehicle.

Are you considering just putting the 5.9 in? If so, it should bolt right in, and hook right up. Being as how the PCM is programmed for a smaller engine though, it will tend to run lean in open loop. (which is bad.)

zman is correct, drop in the bigger motor, take it to the dealership, and have the PCM flashed for the 5.9. Or, get a tuner from Hemifever. :)

I have an EdgeEVOtech; would I be able to do it with this tuner?

No it won't. As posted Dealer or anyone with a DRB scanner or possibly the SCT tuner.

YES you can. The 5.2 pcm runs the 5.9 gasser very well. Does not run lean at all in openloop (dyno verified). 10hp isnt much for the pcm to deal with. Bolt-on's can give you more hp then that.

Got a link for that verification?

Really wouldn't surprise me though, the manufacturers DO tend to run 'em a bit rich in open loop.....
