Default Completed 46re Rebuild

Hey guys I just completed my 46re rebuild in my 97 Ram 4x4. Although, its all done it doesn't want to shift.

Just likes to chill out in first gear, i've prolly driven it about 5 times and i've gotten it to shift only twice. The second time i drove it i had to about red line it, let off the gas and it shifted and put it in neutral and back to drive to get it to shift into 3rd, and same for overdrive.

I'm about 99.9% sure everything in the main case and overdrive unit is correct and about 90% sure that the valve body's valves and linkages are correct.

I'm thinking the Governor Pressure Sensor (Shift Solenoid) is faulty, because you have to create alot of pressure to get it to shift. My band adjustments are correct and same for the clearances in all the clutch drums.

Any input is appreciated.

Bro if it is a build you were pretty satisfied about I'm willing to bet the solenoid is junk.....a lot of us running the 48RE Diesels and SRT10 rams are installing GM style solenoid.....they're making huge pressure less failure due to build up on the OEM solenoid, shifts are firmer and solid....worth a shot at this point! Good luck

Thanks......just seems like there is no pressure to shift through any of the gears.

Just pulled off the F*ucking pan and there is metal shavings all over the place. I've drove this P.O.S. 5 times since the rebuild and its toast already. Just wasted the past two months of my life rebuilding it.

I did everything right, exactly as the manual told me to do and it gets fried after driving it a few times.........

I have to ask you a question. Did you flush out the cooler lines when you did the rebuild? What about that stupid checkball assembly in the cooler line? If you didn't flush those lines and there was shavings from when the last tranny blew you probably flushed them into the new tranny as soon as you started the truck. Oh one more question. Did you reuse the old torque convertor or is it new?

If it was easy, everyone would be doing it.

I flushed out the cooler and lines, but I used the same Torque Converter.
